AVIATION RESEARCH ECOSYSTEM ADVANCED NOVEL APPROACH (AREANA)

Abstract: AREANA is a project funded under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, addressing the call “Synergies in aviation research between Horizon Europe, AZEA (Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation), and national programmes.” The project proposes a new approach to promoting the European aviation research ecosystem. The first objective (WP1) aims to create new opportunities for international cooperation in the European aviation sector. It focuses on coordinating and supporting European, national, and regional research and innovation programmes in aviation, also taking into account the available research infrastructure.To achieve this objective, the consortium is developing various small-scale methods and tools that can be implemented quickly.Within the project, INCAS is the leader of Task 1.6 – EU Countries including associated countries, which primarily aims to produce a report integrating the results of the following objectives: Analysis and identification of EU Member States and associated regions that contribute to aviation research funding, through mapping the main national and regional research call programmes in the field of aviation. Development of a database containing the relevant information.

AREANA Consortium Members

The main objective is to strengthen the cooperation developed within the European project, based on the following activities:

• Analysis and identification of European Union countries and associated regions that contribute to funding research in the field of aviation;
• Identification of the main funding programmes for aviation research calls at national and regional level;
• Creation of a database compiling the relevant information.
• Results achieved: Creating bilateral and multilateral opportunities through the signing of at least one bilateral partnership and one memorandum of understanding.
